M83 Opposition

Organizations, grass-roots entities, and other groups are expressing their opposition to the M83 highway, a community-harming, parkland-destroying, air-polluting, forest-felling   highway proposal from the 1960’s that fails to address climate awareness, travel patterns and mobility in Montgomery County, Maryland.

On September 12, 2024, the Montgomery County Planning Board held a public hearing on the update of the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways.  Ten (10) individuals representing various environmental, transit, and community organizations testified and requested the Planning Board to recommend removal of M83 highway from the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways to the County Council.  Many people and groups also submitted formal written comments to the Planning Board about the need to remove M83 highway from the Master Plan of Highways.  Below are some highlights:
